Doc Walker Premier CMT Music Special
Country rock trio Doc Walker premiered its CMT music special, Doc Walker's Dock Party: Live in Kelowna, on October 16. Recorded at a free outdoor concert in Kelowna last summer, encore airings of the special are scheduled for November 2 and December 27. The four-time CCMA Group of the Year will also release the show to DVD this November 2.

MANITOBA ACTS LAND 11 CANADIAN ABORIGINAL MUSIC AWARD NODS

Five Manitoba recording artists have netted 11 nominations at the 2010 Canadian Aboriginal Music Awards (CAMA). The 12th annual awards are held in conjunction with the Canadian Aboriginal Festival, which runs November 26-28, 2010 in Hamilton, Ontario. The hardware will be handed out at a gala event on November 26 at the Hamilton Place Theatre.
Rock outfit Eagle & Hawk has landed an impressive five nods for its latest release, The Great Unknown. The band is up for Best Album of the Year, Best Group or Duo, Best Rock Album, Best Songwriter, and Best Producer Engineer. The Great Unknown has racked up 15 award nods this year, including the CAMAs, Western Canadian Music Awards, Native American Music Awards, Aboriginal Peoples Choice Music Awards, and Canadian Folk Music awards, and a win in the Contemporary Modern Instrumental category at the Indian Summer Music Awards.
Country chanteuse Desiree Dorion is a double nominee this year, picking up nods for Best Female Artist and Best Country Album for her new album, Soul Back Jack. Dorion is also up for the upcoming Aboriginal Peoples Choice Music Awards in the Best Country CD category.
Another double nominee, hip hop act Skelpa Squad, is up for Best Rap or Hip Hop Album for its new release, The Thief & Council, and Best Rap or Hip Hop Music Video for the album’s title track. Skelpa Squad also picked up an APCMA nod for Best Rap / Hip Hop CD.
Other nominees include Al Desjarlais and his album Winds of Change Best Country Album and Brad Moggie for Best Fiddle Album for his release, All Fired Up.

Sierra Noble places songs on One Tree Hill
Singer/songwriter Sierra Noble is the latest in a growing list of acts with songs placed in TV and movies. Her song, "Possibility," off her 2008 EP Possibilities, is featured in the October 19 episode of CW drama, One Tree Hill. Noble was also seen by millions across the globe in the opening ceremonies of the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver.

Doc Walker returned home to Manitoba with their third CCMA award
Doc Walker returned home to Manitoba with their third CCMA award for Group or Duo of the Year. Band members Steve Broadurst won CCMA All-Star Band honours for Drums and Murray Pulver won for guitar. Meanwhile the producer of their videos for If I Fall and I’m Gonna Make You Love Me, Stephano Barberis, won Video Director of the Year. Their website tied with Gord Bamford’s for Website of the Year. Congratulations to all the CCMA winners. Doc Walker are also up for two WCMA awards in Kelowna, BC October 24th

Doc Walker Picks Up 11 Canadian Country Music Award Nominations

Doc Walker continues to dominate Canada’s country music world this year, landing nominations for five artistic and six industry awards at the 2010 Canadian Country Music Awards.

Doc Walker will compete for its third consecutive Group of the Year title. The band is also up for the Fan’s Choice Award, Single of the Year, Songwriters of the Year, and Album of the Year. Three members of Doc Walker are also up for the All-Star Band Award, including guitarist Murray Pulver, bassist Brent Pearen, and drummer Steve Broadhurst. Doc Walker’s team picked up industry nods for Website of the Year, Album Design of the Year, and Video Director of the Year.
