2020 MCMA Country Music Awards Update:
On behalf of myself and our board of directors we hope this announcement finds you healthy and well.
We wanted to take this opportunity to update you on our 2020 MCMA Awards.
Of course as everyone is aware since March, COVID-19 has impacted the world.
While we are fortunate here in Manitoba to have a lower number of cases, the province continues to take a responsible and methodical approach to re-opening as we all look forward to getting back to some type of normal.
The MCMA Board of Directors have made the difficult, yet we feel, responsible decision to postpone and combine the 2020 awards with the 2021 awards.
I can assure you we did not take this decision lightly. While our awards show was not scheduled till November there are still many unknowns as it relates to the pandemic.
We reviewed and discussed many scenarios and felt this was the safest and most reasonable solution. We also reached out to you the membership to hear your voice via a survey. We were very happy to see a great number of our members reply. Thank you! Those responses very much assisted us in our decision.
We are well aware that musicians and performers are arguably some of the most impacted.
We looked to do our part for our members by presenting our Stay at Home Concert Series and compensating our performers.
We are also pleased to share that those of you that have already paid to join or renew your membership with the MCMA for 2020 or anyone that joins through the remainder of 2020 your memberships are valid through 2021.
While it is our premiere event of the year the Manitoba Country Music Awards show is just one part of what the MCMA does for our members. As things re-open through the remainder of 2020 we are looking very closely at trying to provide some other performance opportunities.
While this is disappointing news we are already starting to plan for what will be one of our biggest and best Award Shows along with the MCMA Event Series in 2021.
Stay safe and healthy.
Respectfully,
Miles Trach
President, MCMA
