Manitoba Country Music Association Statement UPDATE
Upon review of the information that was provided to the Executive and Board of Directors of the MCMA, and in accordance with our Member Code of Conduct Policy, the MCMA Board of Directors has voted by majority to terminate the membership of the former member, and have removed his nominations for the 2021 Manitoba country Music Awards.
Once again, the Manitoba Country Music Association does not condone or support discrimination or hate directed toward anyone in any form. The views of this member do not align with the views of the Manitoba Country Music Association and have thus prompted the necessity of this action.
Thank you all for your patience while we navigated this very difficult decision.
Respectfully,
MCMA Executive and Board of Directors

Manitoba Country Music Association Statement
The Manitoba Country Music Association (MCMA) is a not for profit, volunteer organization whose mandate is to promote, develop and enhance all aspects of country music in Manitoba.
The personal views of the members of the Manitoba Country Music Association and award nominees for the Manitoba Country Music Awards do not necessarily reflect the views of the Manitoba Country Music Association.
Recently, it was brought to our attention that an industry member, who has been a member in good standing (industry activity and paid membership have been verified), has been the subject of an article published by the Canadian Anti-Hate Network.
The individual’s views do not reflect the views of the MCMA. The MCMA is an inclusive organization that does not condone or support discrimination or hate directed to anyone in any form.
Nominees for the Manitoba Country Music Awards are not selected by the Manitoba Country Music Association, its Executive, or Board of Directors. As with many other provincial and national organizations, the nominees are selected by the members of the association. In the case of the Manitoba Country Music Awards, any fan member or industry member may nominate a qualifying member of the MCMA for an award. The top six nominees are then advanced to the next stage of the award selections where only industry members are allowed to vote on which of the top six nominees will be the winner of the award. In the event of a tie, the winner is decided by vote of the MCMA Board of Directors.
The MCMA Executive and Board of Directors are currently carefully reviewing our Constitution and Code of Conduct to determine next steps.
